Your body changes as you age. This is a doctor's advice for older adults.

  1. Salmon or Sardines 3x per week or fish oil supplments (fish or krill oil)

  2. Avacado - rich in Magnesium & MUFAs, high fiber / low carb (good for insulin resistance), helps absorption of vitamins

  3. Cruciferous vegetables enhance liver detox, prostate health, antioxidants

  4. Eggs - pastured eggs are much healthier - eat the whole egg because most nutrients are in yolk. Have 3 to 7 times more of certain vitamins if pastured.

  5. Bone broth - glycine, collagen, and protein

  6. Berries - polyphenols and anthocyanins and blackberries and raspberries have lowest glycemic index

  7. Nuts and seeds - flax, hemp, chia, sunflower, macadamia, pecan, almonds, walnuts and just a handful of nuts

  8. Dark chocolate 85% or more - flavinols, release of Nitrous Oxide which helps circulation to brain and extremities. Low net carbs, low added sugar

  9. Fermented vegetables - gut friendly bacteria

  10. Grass-fed liver or dessicated liver - Fe, B12, Folate, Vit A to deal with common deficiencies

Tolerance for carbs goes down as you age. For seniors:

Low carb is 0 to 25

Low glycemic index is 25-50

Meat, fish, and eggs have 0 glycemic index

Nonstarchy vegetables: 10-20

Nuts and seeds: 10-30

Berries: 20-50
